Ellrose Hanlon
“Wait can you do that again my camera wasn’t on”
Background
Ellrose is a Syracuse-born videographer and photographer whose passion began during the pandemic, when she started documenting everyday moments with her siblings and Bernese Mountain dogs using her mom’s old Nikon camera. What began as a creative outlet quickly became a calling, her camera rarely left her side, capturing sports, events, and anything that sparked her eye.
After filming her first high school basketball game, she launched a media page that grew into editsbyellrose, producing video content for local teams, businesses, and community organizations. Her style evolved to focus on storytelling and motion, building a portfolio that combines creative editing with authentic, candid moments.
Now a Film & Media Studies major at Colgate University, Ellrose films for Colgate Athletics, collaborates with local movie production company, American High, and works under her professional title, Hanlon Creatives, capturing everything from weddings to wildlife. This past semester, while living and filming in Tanzania, she expanded into documentary storytelling, using film and photography to share new voices and perspectives. The experience fueled her passion for exploring unique cultures and inspired her to pursue opportunities to travel the world, capturing meaningful stories and honing her skills as a visual storyteller.
